Feed Fontamara

Many of you know our origin story. But for those who may not, the Fond Blanc orphanage and school were created as a response to a need; a need to create a safer space for Pastor Jean Claude to move children, who were living at his church and school in Fontamara, to safety following the 2010 earthquake. Fontamara is a suburb of Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti and the near epicenter of said earthquake.

It was at that time, post-earthquake, that Fond Blanc became a safe haven, up in the mountains and away from the rubble, violence and significant aftershocks. Fourteen years later, with the support of Pastor, the Fond Blanc Foundation & Sure Foundations, Fond Blanc is home to our thriving, accredited school with over 800 students, 25+ paid teachers, and nearly 20 additional Haitian employees serving in positions from our farming sustainability to facilities needs. All these individuals have sought refuge in our beautiful mountain village, in the midst of Haiti’s gang violence and political instability.

And while we have spent much of our time getting to know and love the children in Fond Blanc, many of them actually grew up in the Fontamara Church and Orphanage. Not only that, but many of them still have family and friends that live in Fontamara. Some of our kids even have siblings currently living at the orphanage there. We have also heard that many of our kids are very worried as they think about their families and siblings being stuck in the Port-au-Prince area during this time.

As we are sure you have seen, Port-au-Prince is not a place to be right now. Unfortunately many of our families and friends don’t have much of a choice: it is their home. In times past, many of these families were able to lean on the Fontamara Church when things got tough or food got tight. But with the realities surrounding the current conditions within Port Au Prince, Fontamara has unfortunately run out of resources to be able to aid those in their community. They are struggling to gain access to consistent food and clean water right now.

Please take a few minutes to listen to Pastor’s perspective on what is happening in Fontamara, and how we can use your help.

That brings us to why we are here. We are asking for your help in supporting our sister church and orphanage. We are currently seeking both prayers & financial support as we look to help feed and fund this tightly connected community. All funds donated this week will directly fund food and supplies for our sister church in Fontamara!  You can visit our donate page.

Thank you for your endless support!
