The news that has come out of Haiti yesterday is tragic. On Tuesday night, President Jovenel Moïse and his wife Martine Moïse were attacked in their home at the Presidential Palace. President Moïse’s wounds were fatal, and he passed away; his wife remains in critical condition and has been flown to an international hospital for additional care.
This news in Haiti is dire; our friends and family are suffering what is one of the worst humanitarian crises ever in Haiti. This is a powerful statement, considering all that they have gone through in their country’s history. We grieve with our brothers and sisters in Haiti, who have suffered tremendously from natural disasters, political unrest, and now a continued – and even more aggressive – crisis in stabilizing leadership.
Now more than ever this country and these people need our help and our support. This will not correct itself without support from the greater international community and the non-government organizations, such as ours, gathering around them in strength with love, resources, and support. The Fond Blanc Foundation remains fully committed; we will neither tire nor abandon our endless commitment to fight for change on behalf of all of Haiti – this country we love so much.
Our deepest sympathies and mourning prayers to the Moïse family and the entire country of Haiti. We remain steadfast in our love and our strength for the days, months, and years that follow.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You” Psalm 56:3
